Tomorrow morning, Art U News will be joined by Academy of Art University School of Fashion alumna and Founder and CEO of della terra shoes Emily Landsman (M.F.A., ’08) on Clubhouse for a live interview.
We will be discussing all things della terra shoes with Landsman, as well as finding out what’s on the horizon for the burgeoning footwear brand.
Meet Emily Landsman
Emily Landsman graduated from Academy of Art University’s School of Fashion with her M.F.A. in 2008. Originally from New York, Landsman’s love of shoes goes back to childhood. She received her B.A. in art studio (with a focus in photography and digital media) from U.C. Santa Barbara in 2005. During her time at the Academy, Landsman worked with School of Fashion Executive Director Simon Ungless to put together a series of classes that focused on her interest in footwear. Ungless told Art U News that his former student’s final review is what initially “planted the seed” for the accredited footwear and accessory design program that later launched in 2018. After graduating, Landsman went on to work for companies Clark’s, Vera Wang, DVF, and Alice + Olivia. In 2016, she founded Shoe York City, a collection of “on-the-go accessories.” In 2019, she joined General Assembly in Boston as a Lead Instructor for their UX Immersive Program. She is also an instructor at the School of Fashion Design in Boston. This past June, Landsman officially launched her sustainable and inclusive footwear brand, della terra.
